About us

Gravity Books started as a tool we built for ourselves. We had a large library — paperbacks next to hardcovers, a Kindle full of digital editions, and a stack of audiobooks — and no good way to see all of it in one place. We wanted to import everything quickly. Photograph a whole bookcase. Record a Kindle library. Drop in a Calibre catalog. Then look at every book we owned, no matter the format, on a single shelf.

We built the app we wished existed: fast to load, honest about what you own, and opinionated about sorting. Physical, digital, and audio on the same spine. Categories you can actually use. Covers that look like the books on your shelf.

Then we showed it to our families. They told us we had to share it with the world. We knew it would not be for everyone. Some people are happy not knowing exactly what they own. But we also knew there would be people like us — the ones who want every edition accounted for, who get a little thrill from a tidy shelf, who have ever bought a book they already owned because it was hiding in another format.

So Gravity Books is here, at our favorite price: free. Free forever. No premium tier waiting behind a paywall. A library app for people who love their books enough to keep track of them.

What you can do

Add a whole row of spines with one photo. Import digital books from a screen recording or from Calibre. Upload EPUB and PDF files and read them in the app. Tag what you own — physical, digital, audio — and sort however you like. Take Gravity Books with you on your phone or computer. Your shelf syncs when you are online and still works when you are not.

Who makes it

Gravity Books is a product of Grid Down LLC. We are a small company that builds things we would actually use. If this app saves you an afternoon of typing titles, it has done its job.

With love, from one overstuffed shelf to another.
